A crop of case studies

Discover some of the fascinating projects I’ve been involved in. (To comply with NDAs, please note I’ve had to withhold any confidential material.)

  • BBC Studios Logo

    Strategy: Merging two iconic brands

With the impending merger of BBC’s two commercial arms - BBC Worldwide and BBC Studios - the organisation recognised the need for a new strategic positioning and identity. I worked with its in-house brand team to articulate both.

  • Virgin logo

    Scriptwriting: Online fraud protection

I’ve worked on several projects for Virgin over the years. This time, it was personal. Scammers were targeting people who commented on Virgin, and Sir Richard Branson’s, social channels. In one case, a businessman handed over £1.5m believing he was dealing with Sir Richard.

  • Durex logo

    Content writing: Myth busting articles

Durex is a brand that has to continuously reinvent itself to stay relevant to younger generations as well as inexperienced or less confident lovers. I wrote a series of light-hearted articles aimed at those exploring sex for the first time, or looking to improve their sex lives.

  • Sony Ericsson logo

Scriptwriting: A phone launch like no other

Sony Ericsson had a new smartphone to launch globally. I wrote a nine part online thriller in which the new Xperia phone was the protagonist. Shot in Bangkok, it told the story of journalist trying to recover his identity using the special features available on the phone.

  • The AA logo

    Copywriting: A complete overhaul

The AA website had seen better days. So its new agency stripped it down and restructured it to be more consumer focussed. I worked with another writer to rewrite the new copy. Shorter. Sharper. And considerably more user friendly.

  • Employee marketing: Recruitment ad

    Employee marketing: Recruitment ad

As Head of Copy at the digital agency Dare, I was asked to create an animation that would attract future creative leaders. The film gave a flavour of the agency, and its culture, in a deliberately tongue-in-cheek style.
